On September 9, 2012 at 4:49 p.m., 3 Fire Companies, 1 Rescue Unit and 1 Chief Officer responded to a report of a juvenile stuck on the rocks in the area Rockaway Beach at 100 Fassler Avenue in Pacifica. The first arriving fire company located the 16 year old male victim on the rocks approximately 30 feet from the water. Firefighter paramedics gained access to the victim and a crew from the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) helicopter unit was requested to assist with the rescue. Working with fire personnel CHP lowered a paramedic down to the victim and he was packaged and hoisted up into the helicopter and transported to a landing zone nearby. The patient was then taken to an awaiting ambulance for further evaluation for a possible hand injury and the incident was mitigated in approximately two hours.
