On December 28, 2018, at 11:49 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 1281 Alicante Drive in the City of Pacifica.
The first arriving fire company found heavy smoke coming from the back side of an attached garage of the single-family, two-story home. Firefighters forced entry to a back door of the garage and using fire service hose lines extinguished the fire and contained it to the left side portion of the garage resulting in less significant fire damage within the area of origin. Simultaneously, firefighters entered the home to search for an extension of the fire and to ensure the safety of the residents and their neighbors. There was no damage inside the home due to this fire.
Fire companies remained on scene for over two and a half hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. Three adult and one senior resident were safely displaced by the fire and managed their living arrangement. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
