Structure Fire in Daly City

On July 5, 2016 at 4:38 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 325 Michelle Lane in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found a 2-story, split level, single family town home with smoke coming from the rear. Fire companies made entry into the home and found flames coming from the rear deck, which had penetrated through the sliding glass door into the family room. Flames also penetrated into the attic above. Fire companies used hose lines to contain the fire to the rear deck and family room and were aided by the home’s fire sprinkler system that had activated in the same room.

Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. 3 residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own arrangements for temporary housing. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes.
