Structure Fire in Daly City

On July 4, 2016 at 10:48 p.m., 9 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 607 Sylvan Street in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found a 3-story, apartment building with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front parking garage of the building. Fire companies made entry into the building and using hose lines were able to contain the fire to the parking garage.

Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. 11 residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own arrangements for temporary housing. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes.
