On November 24, 2020, at 11:39 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 81 Park Plaza Dr. #20 in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear second floor of apartment complex unit 20. Firefighters entered through the front door for search and rescue. Simultaneously, other firefighters made entry through the back door and used fire service hose lines to confine the fire to the second floor in the room of fire origin, the kitchen, with partially smoke damage in the adjacent bedroom and living area within unit #20.
Fire companies remained on the scene for almost two hours, checking for fire extension and completing overhaul and mop-up operations. Four residents were displaced by the fire and were provided with housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the occupants or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Division.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
