Structure Fire in Daly City

On March 18, 2020, at 11:52 p.m., 11 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support, 4 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a residential structure fire at 244 Westbrook Avenue in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found a fully involved garage on fire with flames extending and spreading to the second story of a single-family home. Firefighters made entry into the building and simultaneously conducted search, rescue and suppression operations using fire service hose lines. Firefighters were able to contain the fire with an aggressive attack and effective response force. There were no residents that needed rescue, as all exited the home successfully.

Fire companies remained on scene for four and half hours checking for fire extension and completing salvage and overhaul operations. Eleven residents and two pets were displaced by the fire and were provided housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the residents, pets, or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Division.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
