Structure Fire in Daly City

On September 17, 2019, at 11:39 a.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Chief Officers responded to a structure fire at 289 Morton Drive in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found smoke coming from the roof of a two-story, single family home. Firefighters made entry and found smoke and flames coming from the kitchen and attic directly above. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen and attic, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. Two residents were treated for minor injuries by firefighter paramedics at the scene and transported by private ambulance to a local hospital.

Fire companies remained on scene for over 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. 10 residents were displaced by the fire and received housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
