On September 17, 2019, at 04:01 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 144 Crestwood Dr. in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found heavy smoke and flames coming from vehicles located in the carports of an apartment building with some extension into the building. Using fire service hose lines firefighters were able to contain the fire to the carports structure and involved vehicles on fire, while simultaneously other firefighters conducted search and rescue operations within apartment complex. Four vehicles were involved and on fire, as well as the carport structure and some of the apartment building exterior and two apartments had fire damage.
Fire companies remained on scene for over three and a half hours checking for fire extension and completing salvage and overhaul operations. Two adults, four children, and one pet were displaced by the fire and received housing assistance through the Red Cross and there were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Division.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms.
