On July 27, 2019 at 10:04 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 271 Oriente Street in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found smoke and flames coming from the second floor, front kitchen and living room windows of a two-story, single family home. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to those two rooms with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents, however, one cat died as a result of the fire.
Fire companies remained on scene for over 2 hours checking for fire extension and completing salvage and overhaul operations. Six residents were displaced by the fire and made their own housing arrangements.
The cause of the fire in under investigation by the North County Fire Authority Fire Prevention Division.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
