Structure Fire in Daly City

On August 31, 2019 at 6:51 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 113 School Street in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found smoke coming from the rear, second-floor unit of a two-story, apartment building. Firefighters made entry through the front door of the unit and found smoke and flames coming from a rear storage room. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the storage room and hallway, with heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the unit.

Fire companies remained on scene for 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. 15 residents were displaced by the fire and received housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Division.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
