On February 6, at 12:01 p.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Battalion Chiefs and 2 Fire Investigators responded to a structure fire at 250 Lake Merced BL in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire companies found smoke coming from an apartment on the 2nd floor of the two-story apartment complex. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the area of origin within 5 minutes, which sustained moderate fire damage and heavy smoke damage. There was light smoke damage to the living/ bedroom.
Fire companies remained on scene for one- and one-half hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul, and conducting mop-up operations. No one was displaced by the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes.
