On August 8, 2018 at 3:39 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support Unit, 4 Chief Officers, and 2 Fire Investigators responded to a structure fire at 433 Wyandotte Avenue in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found smoke coming from the exterior crawl spaces below the driveways of three, single family split-level homes. Firefighters broke through the concrete driveway at 433 and discovered fire burning in the crawl space below. Firefighters entered the home and using hose lines extinguished the fire, and contained it to the crawl space, with smoke damage throughout the home and the two adjacent homes at 427 and 421 Wyandotte Avenue.
Fire companies remained on scene for over 3 and a half hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations.17 residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own housing arrangements. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
