On September 23, 2018, at 6:15 p.m., 4 Fire Companies and 1 Chief Officer responded to a structure fire at 653 Lisbon Street in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire companies found smoke coming from the 1st floor of the two-story residential duplex. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, which sustained heavy fire damage. There was heavy smoke damage to the remainder of the apartment unit.
Fire companies remained on scene for over two hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul, and conducting mop-up operations. Four adults and two children were displaced by the fire. A dog and cat were rescued by firefighters and taken to the veterinarian for treatment. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes.
