Structure Fire in Daly City

On September 7 at 5:59 p.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Chief Officers and 2 fire investigators responded to a structure fire at 90 Muirwood Dr. in Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found flames emitting from the rear of the 2 story single family dwelling with light smoke under the eaves.

Utilizing hose lines, the fire was attacked and knocked down in approximately 11 minutes. The fire was contained to the rear right bedroom with moderate fire damage to the hallway and connecting room at the front. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the structure. Search and rescue throughout the structure was conducted.

There was one fire fatality, a 76 year old male.

Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 4 hours for salvage and overhaul.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes and businesses.
