Structure Fire in Daly City

On July 6, 2017 at 2:22 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 792 Higate Drive in the City of Daly City.

The first arriving fire company found a 2-story, single family home with smoke coming from the front and rear of the home.  Fire companies made entry through the garage and rear of the home and found flames coming from the rear, first floor living unit. Fire companies used hose lines to contain the fire to the first floor rear living unit, with heavy smoke damage to the second floor living areas. One occupant of the home suffered smoke inhalation and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

Fire companies remained on scene for over two and a half hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. Five residents were displaced by the fire, but received housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
