On May 8, 2015 at approximately 11:00 P.M, 11 fire companies, one breathing support unit, , four chief officers and one fire investigator responded to 2 alarm single family two story structure fire at 443 Vista Grande Ave. in Daly City.
The first arriving fire company encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building. Fire extended to homes on either side of the structure that was on fire. Fire companies utilizing attack hose lines extinguished and held the fire to the 2 adjoining structures to minimal damage. Fire companies conducted search and rescue operations while simultaneously suppressing the fire but found no victims as the residents all safely self-evacuated.
Fire companies completed salvage and overhaul operations over 4 hours while checking for further extension of the fire. Firefighters remained on scene throughout the night ensuring that the fire was completely extinguished.
There were no injuries to fire fighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes and businesses.
