Structure Fire in Daly City

On August 10, 2014 at 4:34 p.m., 4 Fire Companies, 1 Chief Officer and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a report of smoke in the building at 539 San Diego Ave. in Daly City.

Fire companies made entry into the smoke filled, two-story, single family home and found fire on the second floor.  Using hose lines, firefighters extinguished the fire, which damaged the second floor front living room and caused smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.

Fire companies remained on scene for two hours checking for further extension of the fire and completing overhaul operations. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. 10 residents were displaced and were seeking housing assistance through the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.  The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes.
