On January 16, 2012 at 1:25 p.m., 4 Fire Companies and 1 Chief Officer responded to a structure fire at a residence located at 18 Crestline Drive in Daly City.
The first arriving fire company reported light smoke showing from the two-story single family residence. All occupants had evacuated the home and fire companies made entry with hose lines, locating and extinguishing the fire within the walls around the upstairs fireplace. Fire companies remained on scene for approximately two hours checking for further extension of the fire and completing extensive overhaul.
There were no injuries involved, however two adults and one child were displaced from the residence and alternate living arrangements were being made through family members. The family also had working smoke detectors in the home, which had activated and properly alerting the residence of the fire, allowing early evacuation and notification of the fire department.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Prevention Services Bureau of the North County Fire Authority. Additionally, the North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of having your fireplace inspected and maintained on an annual basis, as well as installing and maintaining smoke detectors in the home.
