On December 28, 2015 at 4:23 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 43 West Cavour Street in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found a two story, single family home with smoke and flames coming from the front of the home. Fire companies had to use a circular saw to cut through a security gate to make entry into the home. Once inside, firefighters used hose lines to contain the fire to the front porch and living and dining room areas. The home sustained fire damage to the front porch, living and dining room areas with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.
Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. Seven residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own arrangements for temporary housing. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes.
