On December 26, 2015 at 11:39 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 15 Mariposa Street in the City of Brisbane.
The first arriving fire company found a single story, single family home with heavy smoke coming from the building. Fire companies made entry into the home and using hose lines were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area. The home sustained fire damage to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.
Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. Three residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own arrangements for temporary housing. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters or residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes.
