Structure Fire in Brisbane

On February 24, 2020, at 2:37 a.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Chief Officers responded to a structure fire at 34 Visitacion Avenue in the City of Brisbane.

The first arriving fire company found smoke coming from the second floor of a three-story apartment building. Firefighters made entry into the second-floor unit and found smoke and flames coming from the kitchen with fire extending up through the wall area into two apartment units directly above and onto the roof. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to those areas.

Fire companies remained on scene for 2.5 hours checking for fire extension and completing overhaul and mop up operations. Two residents were displaced by the fire and were provided with housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the occupants or firefighters. The cause of the fire was due to cooking.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
