Structure Fire in Brisbane

On December 26, 2014 at 12:48 p.m., 5 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a residential structure fire at 62 Mono Street in the City of Brisbane.

The first arriving fire company reported smoke and fire coming from the rear of a single family residential home and upon investigation the fire was found to be on the exterior side deck of the residence. Firefighters made an aggressive attack utilizing hose lines and made forcible entry into the residence during the initial fire suppression operations to check for anyone inside and to ensure there was no fire that had spread through to the interior of the residence.

Firefighters were successful in holding the fire to the deck and not allowing any fire spread into the home. There was no one found at home during the search and there was only minor to moderate smoke damage throughout the residence. Fire companies remained on scene for over an hour completing salvage and overhaul operations.  Also, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.  The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes.
