Structure Fire - 693 Sylvan Street, Daly City

On April 30, 2013, at approximately 9:52 a.m., 6 Fire Companies, 3 Chief Officer, 1 fire investigator and 1 Information Officer responded to a report of a structure fire at 693 Sylvan Street in Daly City.

The first arriving fire company reported smoke showing from the second floor of the three story apartment building. Fire companies made entry into the apartment unit and using hose lines quickly extinguished the fire.  The fire was contained to the kitchen with smoke damage throughout the rest of the unit.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two and a half hours completing salvage and overhaul operations. 5 residents were displaced by the fire and received housing assistance by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Prevention Services Bureau. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their home.
