Single Family Residence Structure Fire in Pacifica

On December 10, 2014 at 12:46 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 3 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to single family residential structure fire at 402 Andover Drive, City of Pacifica.

While responding, fire companies were advised that a child had not gotten out and was inside of the residence in a rear bedroom. The first arriving fire company reported smoke coming from the two-story single family home.  Using ground ladders, firefighters were able to rescue the female child unharmed from the home, while other firefighters simultaneously made forcible entry into the home and using fire attack hose lines, contained the fire to the garage. The fire caused smoke and heat damage to remaining portions of the home, but major property loss was keep to the garage only.

Fire companies remained on scene for over an hour and a half checking for further fire extension and completing salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries to any civilians, however one firefighter received a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital, but was treated and shortly released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.  The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors their homes.
