On February 23, 2012 at 11:34 a.m., 10 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support Unit, 5 Chief Officers, and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a report of a house fire at 125 Alexander Avenue in Daly City.
The first arriving engine company on scene reported smoke showing from the garage of the two-story attached single family residence. Using hose lines firefighters gained access to the garage and extinguished the fire. Upon further investigation additional fire was located and extinguished in the walls and roof area of the structure. At the time of the fire there were four adults in the home, all of which were able to safely evacuate.
The fire was controlled quickly with complete overhaul completed in approximately 3 hours. One resident sustained minor injuries and was evaluated on scene by firefighter/paramedics and transported to a local hospital. Red Cross was also contacted to assist the four displaced residents, which included 5 dogs and a cat. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their home.
