On March 8, 2019, at 12:38 p.m., 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers, and 2 Fire Investigators responded to a structure fire at 299 Hillside Blvd. in the City of Daly City.
The first arriving fire company found smoke coming from the windows and garage of a single-family split-level home. Firefighters entered through the front door to conduct search and rescue. Simultaneously, other firefighters entered the garage using fire attack hose lines to extinguished, and contained the blaze to the living floor area and adjacent garage wall. During search and rescue operation, it was determined there were no victims trapped or needing help.
Fire companies remained on scene for over two and a half hours checking for fire extension, completing salvage and overhaul operations. The fire displaced one resident and one pet, which were provided housing assistance through the American Red Cross. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
