On August 8, 2015 at 9:22 p.m. 9 Fire Companies, 3 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 442 89th Street in Daly City.
The first arriving fire company reported smoke coming from the roof a three-story apartment building. Firefighters entered the structure and found flames coming from the interior fire escape balcony of the building and the neighboring building located at 440 89th Street. Utilizing hose lines, firefighters were able contain the fire to this area and nearby units. There was fire and smoke damage to the units that surrounded the fire escape balconies in both buildings.
Fire companies remained on scene for three hours checking for further extension of the fire and completing overhaul. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Prevention Services Bureau of the North County Fire Authority.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in the home.
