On September 8, 2014 at 4:02 p.m. 3 Engine Companies, 1 Battalion Chiefs and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a grass fire behind 422 Valley Dr. in Brisbane.
The first arriving fire company reported smoke and fire coming from the hillside behind the warehouses on Valley Dr. Due to steep terrain, the first arriving engine company struck a 2nd alarm for additional resources, but was cancelled in route once the fire was under control. The fire burned over one acre of vegetation.
The fire was controlled in approximately 10 minutes with complete extinguishment and overhaul completed in approximately 2 hours.
There were no injuries to firefighters and the cause is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority reminds all residents to cut down all weeds and dry grass a minimum of 30 feet from their homes.
