Gas Line Break in Daly City

On March 4, 2014, at 9:39 a.m., 4 Fire Companies, 1 Chief Officer and 1 Information Officer responded to a reported gas line break at the Westlake Apartments, 25 Poncetta Drive in Daly City.

Fire crews found a broken discharging 2” gas line in the parking garage of the three story apartment complex, which had been struck by a vehicle.  Police officers and fire crews immediately evacuated the entire building, as well as closing off vehicle access in the immediate area.  Additionally, Fire crews deployed hose lines and utilized monitoring equipment for safety purposes, while coordinating with PG&E to secure the leak.

Approximately 60 occupants were evacuated from the building and there were no injuries to civilians, police officers or fire personnel and the incident was mitigated in approximately two hours.
