Electrical Fire & Power Outage in Daly City

On January 3, 2012 at 6:53 p.m., 6 Fire Companies and 2 Chief Officer responded to a report of a utility pole fire following an explosion in the area of San Pedro Road & Mission Street in Daly City.

The first arriving fire company arrived at scene and reported a high voltage power line down in the area with scorching to a building which contained two businesses and a residence. Working with PG&E, fire crews secured the area and assessed the building and determined that the power outage resulted in damage to the building's water and gas distribution system resulting in three adult males and two dogs being displaced from the residence. Red Cross was contacted to assist with alternate living arrangements for the displaced victims and there were no injuries involved. The incident resulted in a power outage affecting over 500 customers in the area and there was no estimated time from PG&E to have power restored.
