Commercial Hotel Structure Fire in Pacifica

On December 2, 2014 at 8:59 a.m., 9 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support, 3 Chief Officers, 1 Fire Investigator and 1 Information Officer responded to a report of a commercial hotel structure fire at 200 Rockaway Beach at the Pacifica Motor Lodge in the City of Pacifica.

Upon arrival, the first fire company reported smoke showing on the third floor.  Fire companies worked their way up to the fire floor and made entry into a third floor room of the three-story hotel and found the fire, which was partially extinguished by the activation of a sprinkler head. Using fire attack hose lines brought from the ground floor, firefighters completely extinguished the fire and searched for any victims, which there were none found.

There was smoke and fire damage to the involved fire room, as well as rooms below where the fire occurred. Fire companies remained on scene for over an hour checking for further extension of the fire and completing salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Additionally, the hotel was able to remain in operation and guests were relocated to other rooms that were not affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.  The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors.
