On September 12, 2013 at 4:15 p.m. 6 Fire Companies, 2 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a reported commercial business structure fire at 455 Oceana Blvd., in Pacifica.
The first arriving fire company reported smoke coming from the rear of the restaurant, as well as through the roof exhaust system. Due to the firefighters quick response and ability to rapidly make entry into the rear of the restaurant, utilizing hose lines were able to extinguish the fire and contained the flames to the kitchen area. However, the fire damage and smoke within the business will temporally not allow the restaurant to operate. All customers and employees within the restaurant safely evacuated.
Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for further extension of the fire, completing overhaul operations and providing assistance to the business. There were no injuries to civilians, employees or firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Prevention Services Bureau. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind businesses of the importance of properly operating and maintained fire suppression systems, in protecting and minimizing damage to the effected building, as well as to adjoining properties.
