On February 11, 2012 at 2:48 pm, 3 Fire Companies, 1 Rescue Unit and 1 Chief Officer responded to a paraglider down on the cliffside in the area of Mussel Rock in Daly City. The first arriving fire company on scene located the adult male victim approximately 150 feet below the bluff. Fire crews set up a cliff rescue operation using a picket system and gained access to the victim. Fire paramedics evaluated, packaged and carried the victim back up to the bluff where he was loaded into an awaiting ambulance and transported to San Francisco General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The incident was mitigated in approximately two and one-half hours.
