As Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday morning at 2 a.m., residents will have to “Fall Back” and set their clocks back one hour. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone that this is a great time to change the batteries in all of your home's smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.
To stay safe, replacing batteries in all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms should be done at least once a year, and changing them while changing all of your clocks serves as a great reminder. In addition, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms should be tested once a month and if an alarm “chirps,” warning the battery is low, replace the battery right away.
