Brush Fire at Shelter Cove Road in Pacifica

On July 2, 2013 at 2:52 p.m., 4 Fire Companies, 3 Chief Officers, 1 Fire Investigator and 1 Information Officer responded to a report of a brush and vegetation fire in the area of the beach and Shelter Cove Road in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company at the scene reported an approximate ¼ acre vegetation fire with a strong wind pushing the fire and requested additional resources to assist with containment.  Fire companies worked directly along the perimeter extending hose lines and getting a line around the fire and gaining full control after burning approximately 2 acres.  Several homes were temporally threatened until fire companies arrived and provided structure defense tactics.

Fire companies remained at scene for about 2 hours until the fire was completely mopped up and overhauled. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Authority Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority reminds all residents to safely reduce or remove dangerous vegetation, and flammable or combustible materials from their properties.
