Animal Cliff Rescue in Daly City

Sunday, January 01, 2012

On January 1, 2012 at 2:38pm, 2 Fire Companies, 1 Rescue Unit and 2 Chief Officers responded to a rescue of a dog off of the side of a cliff at Avalon Canyon in Daly City. The first arriving fire company found a 70 pound Rottweiler dog approximately 150 feet above the beach on the side of the cliff. A rescue unit was requested to the scene, but before any additional rescue attempts could be made, the dog lost its footing and fell down the cliff to the beach below. Firefighters quickly put the unconscious dog in a stokes-rescue basket and transported the dog to Avalon Drive, where animal control officers were waiting. The dog regained consciousness and was transported to an emergency veterinary hospital for treatment.
