On August 16, 2016 at 3:14 p.m., 12 Fire Companies, 5 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 1377 Lerida Way in the City of Pacifica.
The first arriving fire company found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of a five-car parking garage directly connected to a group of four, single family townhomes. Fire companies used hose lines to contain the fire to the parking garages, with smoke damage to the rest of the townhomes.
Fire companies remained on scene for over 3 hours checking for fire extension, completing overhaul and mop up operations. Nine residents were displaced by the fire, but made their own arrangements for temporary housing. Three residents were examined by firefighter/paramedics at the scene for possible smoke inhalation. There were no injuries to any of the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes.
