2nd Alarm Structure Fire in Pacifica

On August 21, 2020, at 12:56 p.m., 11 Fire Companies, 4 Chief Officers, 1 Breathing Support Unit and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a structure fire at 1001 Everglades Drive in the City of Pacifica.

The first arriving fire company found thick black smoke coming from the rear yard of a two-story, single family home. Firefighters made entry through the front door and side family room door and found heavy smoke, with flames coming from the rear bedroom and family room. Using hose lines, firefighters were able to contain the fire to those two rooms, with heavy smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.

Fire companies remained on scene for over 3 hours checking for fire extension, and completing overhaul and mop up operations. Three residents were displaced by the fire and received housing assistance through the Red Cross. There were no injuries to any of the occupants or firefighters, however, a Siamese cat died as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Division. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
