On May 16, 2018 at approximately 9:11 P.M., 9 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support Unit, 3 Chief Officers, 1 Fire Investigator responded to a second alarm structure fire at 704 Claridge Drive in the City of Pacifica.
The first arriving fire company found a two-story single-family residence with heavy smoke and fire showing. Fire companies made an aggressive fire attack to knock down the fire and not allow flames to reach the adjacent structures and simultaneously conducted a search inside to determine if there were any occupants needing to be rescued.
There were no occupants found or requiring rescue and firefighters held the fire to the building of origin and no other property or structures were damaged. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters and fire companies remained on scene for over 6 hours completing extensive overhaul operations due to the excessive amount of items and goods stored inside the building and to ensure the fire was fully controlled.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau.
The North County Fire Authority reminds residences of the importance of installing and maintaining operational smoke detectors at all times.
