On November 3, 2013 at 1:41 p.m., 10 Fire Companies, 1 Breathing Support Unit, 4 Chief Officers and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a report of a structure fire at 1176 Cervantes Way in Pacifica.
The first arriving company reported flames coming from the back of the home with heavy, black smoke coming from the eave vents of a one-story single family home. Fire companies made entry into the home and using hose lines extinguished the fire. All residents were able to safely evacuate and fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage and front dining room area.
Fire crews remained on scene for over two hours checking for further extension of the fire and completing overhaul operations. There were no injuries to fire personnel or civilians. One resident was displaced and received housing assistance through the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Services Bureau. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke alarms in their homes.
