On December 17, 2013 at 8:28 P.M., 11 Fire Companies, 4 Chief Officers, 1 Breathing Support Unit,1 Information Officer and 1 Fire Investigator responded to a 2 alarm single family structure fire at 127 Wellington Avenue, Daly City.
The first arriving fire company reported heavy smoke from the 1st and 2nd floors and fire coming from the basement entry way door the of the 2 story single family structure. Fire companies made entry into the structure and using hose lines extinguished the fire, as well as simultaneously rescuing 2 adults from the second floor window by ground ladders.
Fire companies contained the fire within approximately 15 minutes and remained on scene for approximately 3 hours checking for further extension of the fire, completing overhaul and assisting residents. There were 2 minor civilian smoke inhalation injuries, but no injuries to firefighters. The 2 minor injuries were treated by firefighter/paramedics, but did not require transporting to the hospital. The residents of the single family structure were displaced and are receiving assistance from Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Prevention Services Bureau. The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importa nce of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in homes and businesses.
