On February 9, 2019 at approximately 4:20 A.M. 6 Fire Companies, 1 Chief Officer and 2 transport ambulances responded to a multi-casualty fatal vehicle collision on Hwy 1, North of Sharp Park Bl. in the City of Pacifica.
The first arriving fire company found a passenger vehicle had collided head on with a pickup truck and there were multiple patients. Firefighter paramedics began patient assessment and utilizing extrication equipment implemented operations to free the victims from the heavily damaged vehicles.
2 adults were fatalities and 1 adult was critically injured in the passenger vehicle, with 1 adult having moderate injuries and 1 juvenile with minor injuries within the pick-up truck. Fire paramedics provided advanced life support treatment to the patients and each were transported to a hospital trauma unit.
The incident was mitigated in approximately one and one-half hours. The incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Highway 1 will remain closed in the northbound direction until completion of the investigation.
