Structure Fire in Daly City

On June 6, 2015 at approximately 2:05 P.M, 5 fire companies, 2 chief officers and 1 fire investigator responded to a structure fire at 169 Miriam Street in Daly City.

The first arriving fire company encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from a third story residential unit. Fire companies made entry into the fire involved unit and using hose lines extinguished the fire and at the same completed a primary search looking for any victims.  Firefighters were successful in holding the fire to the outside deck and exterior wood shake siding, which was also on fire.  There was only minor damage to the inside of the home after the sliding glass door failed due to the flames.  There were no residents inside and firefighters did not allow the fire to extend throughout the home, due an aggressive quick attack and fast response to the scene.

Fire companies remained on scene for approximately 2 hours checking for further extension of the fire, as well as completing salvage and overhaul operations. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North County Fire Authority, Prevention Services Bureau.

The North County Fire Authority wants to remind everyone of the importance of installing and maintaining smoke detectors in their homes and businesses.
