On March 2, 2013 at 2:04 pm, 4 Fire Companies, 1 EMS Unit and 1 Chief Officer responded to a medical emergency at Mussel Rock in Daly City. Fire companies arrived on scene and determined the patient was located on the beach approximately ¼ mile from their location. Fire paramedics gained access to the unconscious/unresponsive female patient, evaluated her and performed advanced life support measures. The patient was then loaded onto a fire department specialized all-terrain vehicle and transported to a pre-designated landing zone for further evaluation and transport by a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew.
The incident was mitigated in approximately one and one-half hours.
